Turn the Page KC: Building a City of Readers

On June 20 2017, KC-AERC partnered with Turn the Page KC to participate in Turn the Page KC's Summer event, Building a City of Readers. Turn the Page KC is an initiative sponsored by the Kansas City Missouri Mayor's office that seeks to increasing childhood literacy in Kansas City. During the Building a City of Readers event, over 1000 community children came to the Sprint Center to listen to the Mayor read a book and participate in interactive STEM activities with local businesses and organizations. This year, KC-AERC represented the Math field and conducted a survey with nearly 800 participants. KC-AERC staff interacted with students and helped them take the survey via iPad, and the results were displayed on the Sprint Center scoreboards for students to see the live results.
